Legal entities and brands

What we mean when we talk about Atlas Copco Group

Atlas Copco AB is a public company. Atlas Copco AB and its subsidiaries are often referred to as Atlas Copco Group, the Group or the company. Atlas Copco AB is also sometimes referred to as Atlas Copco Group, the Group or the company when describing results, targets or Group-wide frameworks and initiatives.

Any mentioning of the Board of Directors or the Board refers to the Board of Directors of Atlas Copco AB. In the Group, there are many strong brands driving the success of our business. When describing the Group, and not specific brands or entities, we refer to Atlas Copco Group.

Examples

In 2022, the Group’s revenues increased 27% to a record MSEK 141 325 (from the Annual Report 2022).

We disclose financial results under the Group identity. The Group refers to the consolidated financial statements comprising Atlas Copco AB, the parent company, and its subsidiaries and the Group’s interest in associated companies and joint ventures.

Scientific Vacuum is a division within Atlas Copco Group. Products are offered under the Edwards, Leybold and Gamma Vacuum brands (from boilerplate).

The Group is organized in Business Areas which in turn are organized into divisions. A division can offer several brands. Other divisions can offer the same brands.

Note:

The legal entities and organizational structure differ from how we structure our brands. Our brand governance is based on the belief that all brands are treated equally under the umbrella of the Atlas Copco Group identity.

Group News

Atlas Copco Group Communications and Sustainability creates internal news releases called Group News. They are sent out as and when the need arises. Group News releases are based on the same format as a letter, with the logotype on the top left, a footer with the name of the company and contact information.

The Group Communications and Sustainability team alone can send Group News, but the same template can be used for other internal newsletters by the divisions too. The divisions’ newsletters such as “News from the xxx division” should clearly state the name of sender at the top and the bottom.

Press releases

A consistent Group identity requires all our internal and external news releases to have a uniform look. Press releases are a cost-effective way to create interest in us as an organization and/or our products. You can send press releases out to the local or international press. Atlas Copco Group and brands (for brand boilerplates)

When we refer to a brand within the Group, we say it is part of Atlas Copco Group. For example, the boilerplate for Leybold brand will mention: "Leybold, part of Atlas Copco Group, offers a broad range of advanced vacuum solutions …". Refer to the section on co-branding for information on how brands visually display their association with the Group.

Name structure

Atlas Copco Group has a legal structure and an operating structure. It is important that all Group brand names are handled correctly. By legal structure, we mean the way all companies under the Atlas Copco Group, are owned. Each legal entity has its own board of directors. A company's legal name is the same as the company's registered name. By operating structure, we mean companies under Atlas Copco Group are organized to operate their businesses and the structure of responsibilities for their operations. Each operating unit has its own business board.

In forms and letters, it is important to handle company names correctly from a legal point of view. When there is an operating name, it should be placed above the line on all stationery, with the legal name below the line. When there is only a legal name, it may be placed above or below the line.

The format for contact details may differ from one country to another. Please include all the relevant contact information that helps people to reach you.

The Group's common trademark, Atlas Copco, is registered and maintained centrally by the Legal Department at Atlas Copco AB.
