Graphical elements
The Group tag is a striking visual element in the Atlas Copco Group logotype. It stands out as the only non-type element in the logo and may well be regarded as a brand mark. Moreover, it is the only element in the logotype to use the primary color, Atlas Copco Group gold. The square form of the Group tag conveys balance and consistency and it has been used to define a distinctive layout style for Atlas Copco Group collateral.
The Group tag will define a distinctive layout style for Atlas Copco Group collateral. The square form of the Group tag conveys balance and consistency. Muted gold conveys a sense of legacy.

As a layout element, the Group tag will be used along with lines that diverge from its diagonal corners. These lines will extend to the near and far edges of the image. Note that the lines are in Atlas Copco Group gray and their stroke width will depend on the format (refer to the table in Standard format specifications).
Arrangement of Group tag and lines in different corners
The images below show the arrangement of the Group tag and lines for each of the four corners. Also, the Group tag and lines are to be used only against teal and white background.

Basic template construction
The size of the logotype will be defined (in case of portrait and landscape formats) by 1/4th of the shortest side of the surface. The logotype may be placed on any of the corners of the surface.
Below are examples showing the placement of the logotype in primary positions in portrait format. However, we have developed a flexible system and in the following pages we also share secondary positions and ways of approaching layout in non-standard formats.
The size of the logotype will (in most cases) be 1/4th of the shortest side of the surface.
The size of the margin of the surface will be Y (Y being the height of the logotype).
This is a basic template layout with the defined margins, Atlas Copco Group logotype, content and image placeholders.
Primary positions
The two primary positions for the logotype are on the two right corners – top or bottom.
Below are examples of the primary positions in portrait format, landscape format, and square format. Note the space reserved for the image (the image placeholder box in light gray) and the space reserved for the explanatory content (the content placeholder box in teal). Also note that the content is restricted to the bounds defined by the reference margins.
Note:
- The logotype and Group tag are always positioned diagonally opposite each other.
- The primary position is the preferred position for the Group tag.
Secondary positions
The two secondary positions for the logotype are on the two left corners - top or bottom.
Below are examples of the secondary positions in portrait format, landscape format, and square format. The grey box is placeholder for images and teal box will have text. All content should be restricted within the defined margins.
Note:
- The logotype and Group tag are always positioned diagonally opposite each other.
- The primary position is the preferred position for the Group tag; the secondary position should be used only when necessary.
Portrait layouts (customized)
Start a portrait layout by sizing out the logotype with its width being 1/4th the shortest side of the surface. A reference margin is then defined by keeping a distance of Y (the height of the logo) from the edge of the surface and the logotype may be placed at any corner within this margin. The logotype is to be placed on any such that two sides of the box touch the two sides of the reference margin at the corner.
The image is to be placed in the image placeholder box as shown here. Text is to be placed in the content placeholder in teal. The outer edges of the text box placed in the content placeholder box must maintain a margin of Y with the image and also with the edge.

Landscape layouts (customized)
Start a landscape layout by sizing out the logotype with its width being 1/4th the shortest side of the surface.

Square layouts (customized)
The square layout is to be created by sizing out the logotype with its width being 1/4th the shortest side of the surface.

This is a basic template layout with the defined margins, Atlas Copco Group logotype, content and image placeholders.
Wide layouts (customized)
A wide format has a ratio above 24:9. The first step in setting up a layout for a wide format, is to size the logotype such that its width is 1/3rd the height of the surface. A reference margin is then defined by keeping a distance of Y (the height of the logotype) from the edge of the surface and the logotype may be placed at any corner within this margin.
The image is to be placed in the image placeholder box as shown here. Text is to be placed in the content placeholder in teal. The outer edges of the text box placed in the content placeholder box must maintain a margin of Y with the image and also with the edge.

This is a basic template layout with the defined margins, Atlas Copco Group logotype, content and image placeholders.
Ultra-wide layouts (customized)
An ultra-wide format has a ratio above 32:9. The first step in setting up a layout for an ultra-wide format, is to size the logotype such that its width is half the height of the surface.

In landscape layouts, the content placeholder box can extend up to 60% of the document width. The size and placement of the logotype, the placement of the Group tag and the weight and path of the lines will follow the guidelines described in this section.

In landscape layouts, the text area can extend up to 60% of the document width.
Standard format specifications
Fixed formats templates are available for download. The standard portrait and landscape formats have specific sizes for the font used in the headline, introduction and body text. Also note the line spacing for the headline and introduction as well as the height of the Group logotype.
Available fixed formats
This table shows the recommended range of sizes for fonts, Group logotype and stroke weight across formats.
